Why Kids Love It
Eastham is one of Cape Cod's most family-friendly destinations, offering endless opportunities for children to explore, play, and create unforgettable vacation memories.
One of our guests' favorite features is our quiet private circular road, where children can safely ride bikes, scooters, and take evening walks with very few cars. It's the perfect place for little ones to gain confidence on two wheels while parents walk alongside.
Just minutes away is Wiley Park, one of Eastham's best parks for families. Set along beautiful Great Pond, Wiley Park features a sandy freshwater beach, calm swimming, an excellent playground, picnic areas, and shaded walking trails. It's an ideal destination for younger children who want to swim, play, and enjoy nature all in one place.
For an afternoon of classic Cape Cod fun, head to Poit's Lighthouse Mini Golf. Kids love the charming lighthouse-themed miniature golf course, while the arcade provides hours of entertainment on rainy afternoons or after dinner. It's a longtime Outer Cape tradition that families return to year after year. And the ice cream there is outstanding!
Back at the cottage, we've stocked a collection of beach toys, buckets, shovels, sand molds, and games so children can spend hours building elaborate sandcastles, digging moats, and discovering the treasures hidden along the shoreline.
Perhaps the greatest adventure of all awaits at Eastham's spectacular Cape Cod Bay beaches. At low tide, the warm, gentle waters reveal enormous tidal flats that stretch well over a mile from shore. Children can safely wander through shallow tidal pools searching for tiny hermit crabs, seashells, minnows, sea stars, and other fascinating marine life while splashing in the warm, calm water. It's a magical natural playground unlike almost anywhere else on the East Coast and one of the experiences that families remember long after their vacation ends.
Whether it's biking on our peaceful private road, swimming at Wiley Park, enjoying a round of mini golf, or spending hours exploring the endless tidal flats of Cape Cod Bay, Eastham offers the kind of simple outdoor adventures that make for unforgettable family vacations.

In Eastham, be sure to visit Casa Del Cabo, a local favorite blending New England seafood with vibrant Pan-Latin flavors in an intimate setting. Caroline's Bar & Grill is another must-visit, known for its welcoming atmosphere, fresh seafood, craft cocktails, and lively outdoor patio. For breakfast, lunch, or provisions for a beach picnic, Sam's Deli is beloved for its oversized sandwiches, homemade breads, and daily specials that have earned it a loyal following. Rock Harbor Grill is one of our favorites offering wood-fired pizzas, fresh seafood, steaks, and creative American fare in a lively setting. The Rail is hands down, our favorite brunch destination, serving inventive breakfast classics alongside specialty coffee and cocktails. For an elevated dining experience, Mahoney's Atlantic Bar & Grill offers fresh local seafood, steaks, and an extensive wine list in a warm, upscale atmosphere.
Continue just a few minutes farther to picturesque Wellfleet, famous for its oysters and vibrant culinary scene. We love The Wicked Oyster which serves refined New American cuisine featuring seasonal ingredients and fresh local seafood inside a beautifully restored historic building. Nearby, The Pearl, located right on the pier, has expertly prepared seafood, sushi, and creative chef-driven dishes, making it one of the Outer Cape's premier dining destinations.

One of the joys of vacationing in Eastham is discovering the small traditions and hidden gems that many visitors overlook. Here are a few local favorites that make Eastham such a special place.
Visit the Eastham Public Library. More than just a library, it's one of the town's true hidden treasures. The beautifully designed building offers cozy reading spaces, local history exhibits, an excellent children's room, art displays, and peaceful outdoor gardens. It's a wonderful stop on a rainy day or a quiet afternoon, and children especially love exploring the thoughtfully curated kids' section.
Don't miss the Eastham Farmers Market. Every Friday morning during the summer, the Village Green comes alive with local farmers, bakers, florists, and artisans. Browse colorful stands filled with fresh-picked vegetables, Cape-grown flowers, homemade jams, baked goods, local honey, handcrafted soaps, jewelry, artwork, and gifts. It's a wonderful way to experience the community while picking up fresh ingredients for dinner or unique souvenirs to take home.
Enjoy free summer concerts under the stars. One of Eastham's favorite traditions is the Monday evening concert series at the Eastham Windmill Green, where families gather with lawn chairs, picnic blankets, and takeout dinners to enjoy live music in a relaxed, small-town setting. It's a perfect Cape Cod evening and a wonderful way to experience the local community.
On Wednesday evenings, head over to Rock Harbor for another local favorite, a lively steel drum band performs overlooking the harbor as boats return from the bay. Arrive a little early to enjoy the beautiful scenery, watch the sunset, and soak in the festive atmosphere. It's one of those simple Cape Cod experiences that visitors often remember long after their vacation ends.
Experience America's favorite pastime at Eldredge Park. A short drive to neighboring Orleans brings you to one of the Cape's most beloved summer traditions—, he Orleans Firebirds of the renowned Cape Cod Baseball League. Admission is completely free, and you'll watch some of the finest collegiate baseball players in the country—many of whom go on to Major League Baseball—compete in historic Eldredge Park. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, pack a picnic or grab takeout from a local restaurant, and settle onto the famous grassy hillside for an unforgettable summer evening. It's pure Americana: the crack of a wooden bat, kids chasing foul balls, families spread across the hill, and a warm Cape Cod sunset overhead. There are few experiences that capture the spirit of a Cape Cod summer quite like a Firebirds game.
Plan your beach days around the tides. Ask any local, and they'll tell you that the tide chart is just as important as the weather forecast. At low tide, Cape Cod Bay reveals enormous tidal flats that stretch for more than a mile, creating warm, shallow pools perfect for young children, shell collecting, and long walks. High tide brings excellent swimming, making every visit to the beach a completely different experience.
Catch a Cape Cod Bay sunset. While many visitors head to the ocean beaches, locals know that the sunsets over Cape Cod Bay are among the most spectacular in New England. Bring a beach chair, stay through dusk, and watch the sky transform into brilliant shades of orange, pink, and purple reflected across the calm water.
Bike instead of drive. The nearby Cape Cod Rail Trail offers miles of scenic, paved biking through forests, ponds, salt marshes, and charming Cape villages. It's one of the easiest, and most enjoyable ways to experience the Outer Cape.
Sometimes the best memories aren't made at the most famous attractions but by discovering these simple local traditions: browsing the Friday market, listening to live music on a warm summer evening, watching fishing boats return to Rock Harbor, or spending an extra hour at the beach because the tide is just right. Those are the experiences that keep visitors returning to Eastham year after year.

This home was so well appointed ,immaculate, and commfortable for our family. The ouside deck was the best and private. The washer and dryer and all appliances throughout the house are top notch. The laundry area is down a flight of stairs. Second bathroom small. The owners were the nicest most responsive people you could work with.
