Area Information

Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts is a charming village located on the northern (bayside) part of the town of Yarmouth, on Cape Cod. It offers a quieter, more historic atmosphere compared to the busier southern beaches of Yarmouth. Here's a brief overview and we also provide a very detailed guide of the area for our guests, including our family favorite destinations:

️ About Yarmouth Port
Historic Charm: Yarmouth Port is known for its New England architecture, colonial homes, and tree-lined streets, particularly along Route 6A, also known as the Old King’s Highway, which is one of the most scenic byways in Massachusetts.

Tranquil Setting: This area is less commercial and more residential, with salt marshes, tidal flats, and views of Cape Cod Bay, offering a peaceful, nature-rich experience.

Things to Do in Yarmouth Port (all in walking distance)
Gray's Beach (Bass Hole): A favorite local spot with a boardwalk over the salt marsh, great for sunsets, bird watching, and quiet walks.

Nature Trails: Includes the Callery-Darling Conservation Area and Dennis Pond, good for walking and kayaking.

Edward Gorey House: Home of the eccentric artist/author known for his illustrated books, now a museum.

Winslow Crocker House: A restored 18th-century home featuring antiques and colonial architecture.

️ Nearby Towns and Attractions
Dennis Village (5–10 min): Nearby town with a similar historic vibe, Cape Playhouse (America’s oldest professional summer theater), Cape Cinema, and local galleries and cafes.

Hyannis (15–20 min): A more bustling hub with shopping, ferries to Martha’s Vineyard/Nantucket, museums (like the John F. Kennedy Museum), and the Cape Cod Mall.

Barnstable Village (10 min): Another quaint, historic area with shops, a harbor, and walking tours.

Cape Cod Rail Trail: Access points nearby for biking through scenic parts of the Cape.

️ Dining & Local Favorites
Old Yarmouth Inn: One of the oldest inns on Cape Cod with fine dining.

Inaho: A well-regarded sushi restaurant just off Route 6A.

Local markets and bakeries: Like Jack's Outback II or Taylor-Bray Farm, a working farm with seasonal events.

Accessibility
Route 6A (Old King’s Highway): Makes for beautiful drives along the bay side of the Cape.

Route 6 (Mid-Cape Highway): Offers quick access to the rest of Cape Cod, including Provincetown (~1 hr), Chatham (~35 min), and the Sagamore Bridge (~30 min).
