About this rental
Welcome to our home, our House in the Trees!
Our House in the Trees is on Gull Pond Road on the Ocean side of Route 6, around 2 miles from Newcomb Hollow, Cahoon Hollow Beaches, Gull Pond Long Pond, downtown Wellfleet and the Pier. Walk to Moby Dicks!
We have been renting during the season for several years and just decided to try this site. Currently we have the last week in August avaiable and the first 3 weeks in September…a beautiful time to be on the Cape.
This is a bright, airy and spacious home with an “open beam” architecture made with reclaimed wood from an old Connecticut school house. The open floor plan has a cathedral ceiling in the Great Room (living room and dining room) with wrap around windows. The house is on a hill on its own private, paved drive, well away from the street. Surrounded by trees, it is VERY private. There are several sky lights throughout the house so you can star and moon gaze or just watch the clouds drift by. Sunsets through the trees viewed from living room and back deck are just beautiful.
We contract with a GREEN mosquito abatement service which means being outside on the decks or shower is virtually bug free.
The house has 4 bedrooms, (two bedrooms per floor) and a full bath on each bedroom level. There is an entertainment room (TV/Games) and an office area, both of which overlook the living room and dining room.
Each floor of the house is reached by a short set of stairs, only 6 steps, making it easy to get up and down. The 4 levels offer privacy and space - (Three queen beds and two twins).
The two upstairs bedrooms each have a window air conditioner. There are plenty of powerful fans.
There are two decks, one on each side of the house (do you want sun or shade?) and an outside shower off of the front deck. A charcoal barbecue and a table for 8 are on the other deck.
We supply paper towels, napkins, toilet paper and all basic spices.
There is a washer and dryer in the basement, and the kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, plates, lobster pot, etc. Cable TV and high speed Internet are also provided.
The house style is called post and beam and a large amount of the wood is reclaimed from an old Connecticut school house. There are windows and skylights everywhere.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WHILE WE LOVE BASICALLY ANYTHING WITH 4 PAWS WE DO NOT ALLOW PETS.
Please feel free to contact us with questions about our House in the Trees. If you are new to the Cape, we will also be happy to provide information about the area. And, if our home is not the right fit I hope you find a wonderful place that is!
Area Information
We are on the ocean side of Route 6. It is 2 miles to two ocean beaches, two miles (cause the road is not straight) to Gull pond and under two miles to Long Pond. There is easy access to the bridge that goes over Route 6 to get into town and the bay beaches. The house is set up on a hill surrounded by trees and we get glorious sunset views from the living room and back deck.
We have over twenty glowing recommendations from past guests on the other site that we use. This is our first time trying this site.
