Falmouth Vacation Rentals

Book your ideal Falmouth vacation rental today

Perhaps more so than any other area on Cape Cod, Falmouth is a great place to book a vacation rental during both the summer and the off-season. This town on the Upper Cape has it all: beaches, restaurants, a busy and fun Main Street, preserved outdoor and open spaces, and some of the best Americana traditions going.

When staying in a summer rental instead of hotel, you have much more privacy and more space than you'll need. Plus, the financial savings when you book one of our great properties in North Falmouth, West Falmouth, Woods Hole, or East Falmouth will surprise you. Our wide selection of options means you can be picky -- want a pool or a deck? No problem. Maybe you want beach access or direct access to rails for biking or walking? We have you covered. Start now and look around our extensive collection of rentals in Falmouth, MA.

Falmouth, MA travel advice

If you want an All-American experience for your Cape Cod vacation, we recommend you book a summer rental in Falmouth, MA during either the 4th of July or in August during the Falmouth Road Race.

Don't get us wrong, the beaches in all of Falmouth's villages make this a great summer destination any time. But for us, the bottom line is during the annual road race or during the week surrounding the 4th, Falmouth just transforms into a patriotic and fun-loving community. The locals and visitors who are only renting their house for a week love the festive and comradery of fireworks, bbq's, and friends & family.

While our selection of Falmouth summer rentals is large, these two weeks during the summer book up fast. So our advice? Start! Like...now...go, go, go. And good luck!

Top attractions

If you run a Google search for beaches in Falmouth, you'll see a ton of results highlighting Old Silver Beach Falmouth's west side facing Buzzards Bay. And it's a fine beach, for sure, but it's quite crowded and described as a tourist destination -- we agree! So, if you go, get there early and expect a crowd.

Other beaches on Buzzards Bay that are higher on our list include Chapoquoit beach, Megansett beach and New Silver beach. On the south end of town, which confusingly includes East Falmouth, the best beach bets are on Menauhant beach, Bristol beach, and Falmouth Heights beach.

Aside from its great beaches, we recommend a stroll down Main Street for great shops and restaurants. The main drag where many of the great restaurants are all clustered together has great options for many types of food (for more on this, see below). If you continue on Main Street/route 28 east, you'll eventually get to Cape Cod Winery on Oxbow row. Travelers not staying a Falmouth rental but often make it a point to stop at the winery for a tasting on their way through. Good call!

Woods Hole is as unique as it gets because it's got a long history as a village and community, it has a strong biological science community, and it's a hub of ferries to Martha's Vineyard. Considering how small and quaint it is, this a super fun day if you book a rental in Falmouth or as a day trip if you stay elsewhere. When you come, be sure to see the Nobska Lighthouse and visit the Woods Hole Science Aquarium.

Falmouth is kept beautiful and preserved in part by a concerted effort of the Salt Pond Areas Bird Sanctuaries and similar organizations. One of the open spaces it has preserved is The Knob in Woods hole. It's a family-friendly trail for walking, birding, and spectacular views of marshes, Buzzards Bay, and Quissett Harbor. Bonus points if you're able to be there around sunset.

Annual traditions and events

The Falmouth Fireworks are dynamite. No pun intended! It's a great spectacle of a celebration with the fireworks starting on the 4th shortly after sunset at Falmouth Heights Beach. Talk about a slice of America. If you stay at a summer rental in Falmouth and have the ability to be there for the 4th, do it! You and your family or friends will never forget the experience of celebrating our country's birth on the Cape -- locals will tell you it's a "top 10 fireworks displays in the country", and wouldn't you know it, Travel and Leisure Magazine agreed!

So, you might be wondering: how can a road race be an annual even that appeals to travelers who book a vacation rental in Falmouth, MA? If you are, it's clear you've never been to the Falmouth Road Race in August each year. This is a town-wide tradition where everything from house parties to street gathers happen organically and the whole town starts to feel like ab idyllic college campus on a Saturday during football season! The race itself attracts thousands of runners from around the world and stretches 7 miles from Woods Hole to Falmouth Heights.

There are a lot of year-round residents in Falmouth so it's not entirely surprising that one of the town's great traditions is the Falmouth Christmas Parade. It's old school, family fun so if you find yourself curious to stay in a Falmouth rental "off-season", check the calendar for early December when the Falmouth Chamber of Commerce puts on the parade.

Recommended food and restaurants

People love to think their local favorite restaurant is "the best", which is a phrase thrown around too much about restaurants. But, in Falmouth's case, there are a bunch of places that are called "the best" and deserve it. We'll list a few here, but if you stay at a vacation rental in Falmouth ma, then we encourage you to choose from these and the many we don't have space to list.

Quarterdeck on Main Street stands out to us and that's saying something considering how many great dining options there are on Main Street (ie, route 28) in Falmouth proper. This casual spot has been serving great surf 'n turf since the 1960s. Come for the great food, and (probably) enjoy the nautical-themed interior.

The thing to remember about Falmouth is that because it has a larger percentage of year-round residents, some of the amenities it has reflect that. This fact definitely applies to its restaurants and an example of this is Añejo Mexican Bistro, which is also on Main Street. This place offers top-notch Mexican food in a trendy and fun environment that somehow is great for date night
and great for families. And, yes, the guac is great!

If it's great food with a view that you crave, Falmouth is still your spot. The views of the harbor at Flying Bridge go great with classic Cape Cod seafood at this local haunt which recently celebrated its 35th anniversary.

Up in North Falmouth, we recommend Epic Oyster, which is the home of a great seafood spot housed in what used to be the North Falmouth Diner. It's family-owned and run, which is great. But the best parts? Ahem, the oysters at the bar, and, fun fact, Bob Dylan visited in 1974 (when it was a diner, but still!).
